The keel-laying ceremony of Celebrity Xcel, the fifth ship in Celebrity Cruises’ prestigious Edge series, was held today at Chantiers de l’Atlantique.

Coins were placed in one of the 44 blocks that will make up the ship to bring her luck during her life at sea. The Olympic Games symbols and the representation of NASA’s Saturn V rocket engraved on the coins pay tribute to the values of team spirit, commitment and respect promoted by Chantiers de l’Atlantique as well as the innovative characteristics of Celebrity Xcel. The ship will feature the latest technological innovations developed by Chantiers de l’Atlantique.

The teams working on the construction of Celebrity Xcel were thrilled to perpetuate this longstanding maritime tradition.
