Today, RWE and Chantiers de l’Atlantique de l’Atlantique celebrated the first steel cutting of offshore substation Q35 for RWE’s Nordseecluster offshore wind project (NC1, 235 MW). This event took place twelve months after the order for 2 substations for the Nordseecluster A wind farm (German North Sea) was announced by RWE. These substations will collect the energy produced by the wind turbines and transfer it to shore through high-voltage submarine cables.
The installation and full commissioning of offshore substation Q35 is planned for 2026.

Frédéric Grizaud, Director of Atlantique Offshore Energy: “We are delighted by RWE’s decision to renew their trust in Chantiers de l’Atlantique’s teams and partners. The first steel cutting of the second substation marks a new milestone in its construction and we are very proud to contribute to RWE’s ambition to provide Europe with more and more green electricity.”
