Chantiers de l’Atlantique: ARKONA electric substation ready to sail away to the Baltic Sea
On March 1st, STX celebrated P34 electric substation delivery during a ceremony attended by E-On, the German energetic company and client as well as by 50Hz and Statoil, the contract’s partners.
This step is a major milestone in the project which will be followed by others to be held in the coming months for STX France’s teams namely transportation, installation and commissioning.
Largest electric sub-station delivered at one time, ARKONA is designed to feed 400,000 households thanks to its 385MW power. This equipment designed by STX France, has outstanding dimensions i.e 4,000 tons for the topside and 1,200 tons for the jacket.
Transported by barges to the Baltic Sea both elements will leave Saint-Nazaire by mid-March depending on the weather conditions. After its installation and commissioning which will be STX France’s responsibility, final delivery is scheduled in summer 2018.
